Paper planes competition to introduce basics of design thinking
This week the children engaged in a friendly paper plane design competition. The workshop started with Baal geet (children’s poem) followed by a tag game (Chain-chain). It was good to see children learn from the prior Kho Kho sessions and work together without pushing or shoving one another. Then we introduced children to paper planes! The challenge: who can create a paper plane that can fly farthest. Some children were making paper planes for the first time. They struggled, learnt, helped each other and actively participated. Three rounds were conducted and each time the children improvised on the previous design. As we wrapped up this workshop, they promised to practice new designs and come up with even better paper planes next time.
